Convert H₂S to Sulfuric Acid Right on Site and Meet Environmental Standards
If your plant is like many, you’re dealing with sulfur emissions by converting H₂S to elemental sulfur in a Claus plant. Then the sulfur is transported to some other location, where it is further converted to sulfuric acid. Overall it’s a costly process and more and more facilities are installing a Topsoe WSA plant to produce the sulfuric acid directly from the H₂S.
Hosted by environmental technology supervisor Morten Thellefsen and sales manager Frands Jensen, this webinar explains how Topsoe WSA technology converts sulfur compounds into concentrated sulfuric acid and high pressure steam, while making sure you meet even the toughest emission standards.
Topsoe WSA solutions are very flexible and can be used in many applications. SO₂ from metallurgical plants, spent sulfuric acid from alkylation units, H₂S and sour water stripper gas from oil refineries and gasification plants, CS₂/H₂S from viscose production and many other sulfur compounds can all be treated effectively, in some cases even in one and the same plant. Hydrocarbons, CO and NH₃ in the feed stream are easily combusted, and any NOx formed during combustion is removed via a SCR-DeNOx system.
The result for your plant is more efficient, profitable compliance with environmental regulations.

Frands E. Jensen,
WSA Business Director
Frands has been employed with Haldor Topsoe since 1979. He has been engaged with marketing and sales of environmental technologies almost from the beginning of his career. He manages the marketing and sales of the WSA technology in CIS and North America in close collaboration with Topsoe's regional offices.
Morten Thellefsen,
WSA Technology Director
Morten Thellefsen graduated from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) with a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1998 and with a PhD in 2001, in which year he was employed with Haldor Topsoe A/S. The first 11 years of employment were in R&D, working on improving Topsoe's existing WSA/SNOxâ„¢ technologies and developing new technologies within the field of process gas desulfurization. Morten has extensive experience with process design, analytical methods, experimental design and interpretation.
